What info do you need to run an email campaign?
To get your email campaign tested and sent, here’s what you’ll need to provide:
-
Subject Line: This is the first thing people see after the sender’s name. You can also add personal touches like the recipient’s first name. Need tips? Check out Email Marketing Subject Line Best Practices.
-
From Name: Shows who the email is from. Note: Due to CAN-SPAM rules, it can’t be an email address. We recommend using the advertiser’s name.
-
Send Date & Time: When do you want the email to go out? Don’t forget to include the time zone. For guidance, see Best Times to Send an Email Campaign.
-
Total Email Quantity: How many people do you want to reach? If you’re unsure about audience size, just ask for an email count!
-
Geo Targeting: Where do you want to send it? Cities, states, zip codes, DMAs, MSAs, or even nationwide — all work. See Basic Email Targeting Options for details.
-
Audience Demographics: Who should see your email? Tell us the key targeting info.
-
Test Seed List: A list of emails (your team, clients, yourself) to receive the test email for approval before sending the full campaign. These addresses will also get the live email.
-
Live Seed List (Optional): Extra emails that get only the live email.
-
Creative: What’s your email content? We accept:
-
HTML (best choice)
-
Image files (JPG, PNG, GIF, PDF) that we can turn into HTML with your tracking links
-
HTML in a ZIP file (if images aren’t hosted online) — make sure:
-
Your main file is named index.html
-
Images are in a folder called images
-
Image links use relative URLs like
images/your-image-name
(no spaces allowed)
-
Don’t have a creative ready? No problem! We offer Creative Services to help build it.
-
-
Preview Text (Optional): A short teaser that shows next to your subject line in inboxes. We recommend 40-90 characters, focusing on the first 5-8 words for best visibility.
-
Personalization: Want to add first names in the subject or preview text? Provide the first names for everyone on your test seed list so we can test it properly.
-
Tracking URL (CTURL) with UTMs: These track clicks from your email. If you don’t have one, we can create it for you.
