The search team uses Call Tracking Metrics to track direct and post-click phone calls, which can cause confusion, so here’s a breakdown of each type:

  1. Call From Ads - This is how Google tracks these calls in Google Ads.
  2. Call Tracking Lead - this is when Call Tracking Metrics tracks a call from the ad extension (this could be double counting Call extensions from Google Ads)
  3. Phone Number Only Call Tracking - post-click calls from the website tracked via Call Tracking Metrics
