Search Engine Marketing (SEM) Pacing Caluclations

Learn how pacing metrics are calculated for your SEM campaigns.

Please note that SEM campaigns are available in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K., though there are some limitations in Canada and the U.K.

You can see how your SEM campaign is pacing to fulfill the ordered ad spend within a line item or on the line items table.

Ordered Ad Spend

The ordered ad spend is what we aim to spend in Google Ads for that particular month based on your allocations.

Ordered Ad Spend = (Ad spend / # of days in the allocation period) x # of days the campaign is live within the selected period

Spend Pace

We utilize spend pace to help us ensure we hit the ordered ad spend for every month. Any number over 100% tells us that we are on pace to spend more than the ordered ad spend. If the spend pace is below 100%, we are one pace to not send the entire ad spend for that month.

Spend Pace = ((Spend to date / # of days the campaign is live within the allocation period) x # of days in allocation period) / Ordered ad spend

Projected Spend

Projected spend is what we are pacing to spend this month. This will show you, in dollars, how much we are pacing to spend each month for you to compare against your ordered ad spend.

Projected Spend = Spend pace x Ordered ad spend

Our Campaign Managers are always looking at pacing metrics to ensure we are on pace to fulfill your ordered ad spend. If you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
