While we can accept creatives built using Mailchimp, we do not recommend it.
Mailchimp’s builder is not intended for export and is not compatible with all email platforms. Additionally, we have difficulties integrating these creatives into our reporting dashboard, which can result in broken images and/or links within the advertiser’s reporting dashboard.
Common issues include:
- Exported creatives are often provided in JavaScript, whereas we need HTML code.
- The HTML code generated by Mailchimp is often bloated with unnecessary elements/text.
- Mailchimp’s sizing settings are incompatible with many email platforms such as ignoring padding and margins around images, causing wrapped text to push against the images.
- Images can get clipped, rescaled, or broken. Images taller than 1728px may be clipped by Outlook, and Gmail is known to clip emails larger than 102KB.
Please ensure any wrapper text or references to the Mailchimp builder are removed from the HTML code before providing the creative for testing.
To extract the necessary code from Mailchimp, email yourself the creative, then click view source to retrieve the code and copy it into a notepad. Send this HTML file to our team.
Testing Mailchimp Creatives
Please note, that due to the various issues we encounter, we go through multiple rounds of testing to identify and fix problems within the creative. Therefore, we recommend using a test seed list that excludes individuals who should not see these issues. Once all edits are made, we can send the test to anyone else who needs to see it for approval.
Other Options
Instead of multiple rounds of troubleshooting for Mailchimp creatives, we suggest using another creative building website like Unlayer. Additionally, we offer creative services and can build the creatives according to proper regulations.
